Special thanks to our Judges: Tom Lamb, Mitch Ridder and Pat Sparkuhl

We wish to dedicate this year’s Photo Contest to Mark Chamberlain, a man who Pat Sparkuhl described as one who lived his life trying to make the public aware of the fragility of the environment through his photography, documentation, and protesting against those who wanted to destroy it. Mark opened the door of BC Space to accommodate the Laguna Bluebelt meetings, Solstice events and emerging poets and musicians giving everyone a glimpse of his authenticity and dedication to art and mother earth. He annually chaired the judging for the Laguna Bluebelt Photo Contest.

Comments:

  1. It has been a pleasure and honor to have participated in jurying the 2018 Laguna Bluebelt Photo Contest with Mitch Ridder and Tom Lamb.

The Laguna Bluebelt Photo Contest illustrates a successful synergy that can result when a worthwhile program inspires both professional and amateur photographers to ‘get out there’ and create personalized images that reflect the infinite beauty of the coastal environments and our responsibility to preserve them.

I wish to dedicate this experience to a friend who has lived his life trying to make the public aware of the fragility of the environment through his photography, documentation, and protesting against those who wanted to destroy it. Mark Chamberlain

  2. Our 10 honored images in the 7th annual Laguna Bluebelt Photo Contest rise above the all too familiar Laguna postcard with exceptional diversity and creative beauty, telling visual stories of mood and motion, even a touch of humor! This event showcases our love and appreciation for Laguna’s unique coastline, while reminding us the importance of the Marine Protected Area’s preservation power for all future Lagunans and visitors to the Bluebelt.
